C5 C6 Corvette Torque Tube Coupler

Transcript [Music] [Music] hey everybody welcome back to Lyles Friday podcast I'm filthy and sweaty because I just got done redoing the seat bolsters on a 1990 Corvette sport seat then if you have ever had one of those apart you know I'm not happy right now but it got done customers happy look great they just left to give me a couple of minutes to share some really exciting news with you guys now if you watch my videos normally you know that I did a podcast a while back about c5 and c6 torque tubes and the problems that we have with them as the bearings go bad and the couplers go bad the bearings we've had sorted out for a while we we offer a full line of them for the c5 and c6 they're fantastic but up to this point we've been having to still stick with the normal reproduction run-of-the-mill couplers because the only choice was to buy normal for like 50 bucks or buy the super high-performance ones for like $200 apiece there's really no middle ground so we said ah there's no middle ground that's where we want to be so today excitingly we got our first two samples of our new couplers in and the neat thing about them is they're actually infused with stranded polymer so if you look here just you'd see just a little bit of there's a strand there there's another strand where there's another strand right here all through this and I didn't have time to cut this in half I was gonna show you guys by cutting in half the problem you have with these things as you can see in this one that failed yeah but what they do is they fall apart the rubber falls apart they crack and you start getting that oscillation in that torque tube that I talked about that ends up really killing everything in your drive line this is an excellent example that's why I keep it around the whole point of us going with these stranded fibers in here is that they're going to help bind this rubber together so it doesn't crack and fall apart like this so it's going to be a much stronger and much longer last pease pricing is going to be very competitive it's gonna be more than just the ones that go bad all the time there's gonna be a whole lot less than the performance ones that are out right now it's gonna be a great middle ground for people who doing this job and they drive their car in a sporting fashion but don't want to spend two three four hundred dollars just on couplers when they have to do this job now these should be coming to market in the next month or so I want to make sure that I get my logo on them beyond that we're really excited about it and once we get them in I'll have a complete display set up and I'll do a longer video talking to you about the differences and why these work better until then I hope you guys have a really great weekend I look forward to seeing you next week which I will do a video two weeks in a row I promise otherwise have a great weekend guys remember like and subscribe
